RESEARCH

Halo

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Hope for Javier has been instrumental in getting two promising treatments into human clinical trials, HT-100 and Sildenafil (repurposed).

The $250,000 we’ve invested into research has brought drugs from the lab to bedside, resulting in clinical trials both completed and currently in progress.  As an example, the seed funding we provided to Halo Therapeutics in its early stages has led to larger awards.  Read about it in this release:  http://mda.org/media/press-releases/halo-therapeutics-receives-500000-mda-award-develop-drug-duchenne-muscular

ADVOCACY

The $75,000 we’ve invested into advocacy efforts has helped to leverage $100,000,000 in Duchenne specific government funding.  Now that’s what we call serious return on investment!

EDUCATION

ConnectConference

In 2009, the CDC published formal care considerations and treatment protocols for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  Until there is a cure, there needs to be better care.  In keeping with our promise to provide the best possible quality of life for boys with DMD, Hope for Javier sends medical professionals and caregivers to medical conferences focused on all aspects of Duchenne – research, advocacy, treatment protocols and helping these boys deal with the complex emotions that come with a DMD diagnosis. This funding improves standards of care and ensures consistent implementation of those standards.
